The Aquarius & Talk of the Midlands collection of Photographs, were recently discovered after being lost, and thought to be destroyed many years ago. This was after the change over to digital photography and the closure of the darkroom & lab.
Jenny Taylor, who was doing the conversion of the premises to digital, was to dispose of all negatives and prints over three years old. Jenny did say at the time that the Aquarius & Talk of the Midlands 'collection' (then several large boxes of random prints and films) should be retained because they were a unique record of a very large number of people.
Jenny passed away in 2008.
On moving to new smaller premises in 2012, there were many sacks of material, thought to be rubbish, which were were destined for the skip, however, some had split open and it was realised what the contents were.
The contents of the bags, eventually, proved to be the complete collection of negatives and prints from the Aquarius and the Talk of the Midlands.
It took two years of cleaning and restoration to enable the negatives to be digitised for this website, for everyone to see.
