Both night clubs were created by Mr J. D. Williamson senior, (the gentleman on the left of the picture). His son, Mr John Williamson, (on the right of the picture) was involved in the senior management of the business from an early age.
Mr Williamson senior, developed a very strong business relationship over many years, with Mansfield Brewery, and it was in cooperation with The Brewery, that Punchbowl Entertainments and The Aquarius Cabaret Club, and later, the Talk of the Midlands were created.
Punchbowl Entertainments was the business title, and was the owner of the two clubs and similar other clubs etc, across the East Midlands, Rotherham, Skegness etc. The business was rooted in Skegness, The Derbyshire Miners Holiday Camp was managed and run by Mr J. D. Williamson senior. He was succesfull in his business ventures on the East Coast and became Mayor of Skegness on two occasions.
In his younger days, JD, or Jack, as he liked to be known, was a keen sportsman. He played rugby and football, playing profesionally for Liverpool. A very capable golfer, he instigated the Aquarius golf club, playing at home and Spanish golf courses. His love of Spain showed in the design exterior and interior of the Aquarius and Talk of the Midlands Cabaret Clubs.
